The list of examinations conducted every year by the National Examinations Council (NECO) including, SSCE internal and external, BECE, NCEE, and Gifted exam.

This is one of the core component of the mandate of the Council as espoused in the enabling law guiding the National Examinations Council in Nigeria.

Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal and External
The Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, is the examination conducted for candidates at the end of their Secondary School Education and the SSCE External is conducted for candidates that have attempted and have deficiency(ies) to make-up.

This is the examination taken by candidates in their last stage of Secondary School Education. The SSCE is in two categories; one is for candidates in the third and final year of their Senior Secondary Education and it is called SSCE Internal while the second is SSCE External and is for candidates that are not in the school system, i.e. private candidates.

Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is the examination conducted for candidates of Federal Unity Colleges and other allied institutions who have completed their Junior Secondary School education.

National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE)
The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) is administered to pupils in their 6th year of primary schooling which is the final stage of primary education. The purpose of this examination is to select the qualified candidates from every state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for admission into Federal Unity colleges.

Gifted Examination (GIFTED)
The Gifted Examination (GIFTED) programme is designed to identify exceptionally talented children at the primary school level, bringing them together in the same environment at the secondary school level.
